Veteran couple Javed Akhtar-Shabana Azmi hosted a vibrant Holi party at their Mumbai home. Shabana posed with Baba Azmi, Tanvi Azmi; Urmila Matondkar, Rahul Bose, Ali Fazal-Richa Chadha joined festivities. Shabana recalled Javed buying a florist shop, winning her heart despite mom’s warning.

Veteran couple, Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi invited top stars to their big Mumbai home for a fun Holi party rich with old traditions. The well-known song and script writer, with his talented actress wife, began the Holi revelries with warmth, laughs, and bright colors. Industry peers and friends danced to drum beats, splashed colours and forgot work worries in the fun that brings everyone together.

Shabana Azmi posed happily with her brother Baba Azmi and sister-in-law Tanvi Azmi at the party. Urmila Matondkar had a blast, smiling at the paparazzi and diving into the Holi fun.

Meanwhile, Rahul Bose greeted the photographers with a big smile, posing while soaking up the colorful vibes at Javed and Shabana’s bash. Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha also joined the guests, striking poses for pics outside.

In a throwback shared on Mojo Story, Shabana revealed the simple spark that won her heart during their courtship. As they drove past a florist, she admired the blooms, prompting Javed Akhtar to pull over and buy the whole shop on the spot. “So he has busted the myth. In case any of you think that because he writes so many romantic songs, he must be a romantic husband—there is not a romantic bone in his body. There is nothing like that, it just happened once.” Shabana jumped in with the complete backstory. “This was during our courtship days and we were passing by a florist. I told him the flowers were so beautiful, and he stopped the car and bought the entire shop. I just fell head over heels for him.”

Shabana also recalled her mother warning her against Javed and shared, “Later, when we were not talking to each other, he sent me a poem. After reading the poem, my mom said, ‘Mat phaso, a poet always traps you with his words. Isse dur raho’ (Stay away from him).”Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi married on December 9, 1984. It was Javed’s second marriage, following his earlier one to screenwriter Honey Irani, with whom he has two children, Farhan and Zoya Akhtar.
