Twinkle: ‘Menopause made me feel like a phone with a faulty charger’

Twinkle Khanna opens up about ageing, health journey and HRT at 52, 'Menopause made me feel like a phone with a faulty charger'

Author and former actor Twinkle Khanna, who is also the wife of Akshay Kumar, has spoken candidly about her health and wellness journey as she navigates menopause. Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Twinkle shared make-up-free pictures from her home and penned a long, honest note about ageing, fitness and Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).

Twinkle Khanna reflects on wellness, fitness and supplements

“At 52 and make-up free, I’d love to say that all you need is some great afternoon sun to feel and look good. But menopause is not that generous,” she wrote, adding with her trademark wit, “I once joked that menopause is a bigger bitch than I have ever been.” Twinkle revealed that for a long time, menopause made her feel “like a phone with a faulty charger.”She shared that feeling better today has little to do with “accepting age gracefully” and more to do with practical choices. “I feel better now, not because I ‘accepted my age gracefully’ (whatever that means), but thanks to regular weight training, a small pharmacy’s worth of supplements, the joy and purpose I find in books (reading and writing), and because after 50 I’ve finally embraced my shallow side and play mahjong regularly with my girlfriends,” she wrote.Twinkle also spoke openly about HRT, listing supplements she is currently taking, while urging followers to consult doctors and do their own research. “What works for me may not work for you,” she cautioned, inviting others to share what helped them during the transition.

Twinkle also celebrates 25 years of marriage with Akshay Kumar

Earlier, Twinkle and Akshay Kumar marked 25 years of marriage. Reflecting on their relationship, she shared that mutual encouragement has been the foundation of their bond. Posting a video of the couple paragliding together, Twinkle wrote, “The best part of our marriage? We always encourage each other to fly. Sometimes literally.” Akshay, reacting in the video, joked about feeling the pressure after his wife took the leap first, offering fans a glimpse into their easy camaraderie and enduring partnership.
