Tom Hiddleston reveals the first Indian film he watched was of Shah Rukh Khan; says, 'It was such an extraordinary'

During a lively chat about global cinema, Tom Hiddleston fondly reminisced about the first Indian film that captivated him—Shah Rukh Khan’s poignant ‘Devdas’. He praised the rich narrative style of Indian films and expressed a strong desire to collaborate with the exceptional SS Rajamouli, showcasing his respect for the breadth of talent within Bollywood.

Tom Hiddleston recently opened up about his introduction to Indian cinema, sharing that the first film he watched featured Shah Rukh Khan in it. The Hollywood star expressed his admiration for Indian movies. The actor also answered who he would like to collaborate with from India in the future. Let’s take a look at what he has to say.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter India, Tom Hiddleston was asked about the possibility of working in an Indian movie. To which he said, “I’ve loved Indian cinema for a long time.” The actor further shared, “I remember it was quite a long time ago now. I remember going to see ‘Devdas’. I mean, that’s quite an old film. I remember going to see that at my local cinema, and it was such an extraordinary.” The Hollywood star went on to say, “I would say I have never seen anything like that. So, yeah, I remember that very much.”This is not the first time Tom Hiddleston has expressed his admiration towards Shah Rukh Khan. In 2023, the Marvel movie star SRK would make a great variant of his MCU character Loki. In 2021, when the actor was asked about Bollywood, he replied, “Am I allowed to say Shah Rukh Khan again? Shah Rukh Khan again.” During the same interview, the actor was then asked about his dream collaboration. He paused for a moment to think about the name, and when SS Rajamouli’s name was mentioned, the actor’s face lit up. He called the Indian filmmaker “excellent.”

The film starred Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, and Madhuri Dixit in lead roles. The star cast also included Jackie Shroff, Kirron Kher, Smita Jaykar, and Vijayendra Ghatge playing pivotal parts. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, it was released in the year 2002.
