While attending the recent ACM Awards, Rhett could not stop gushing about his love for the beloved boy band and even revealed that he and Niall Horan are good friends. While speaking to Billboard on the red carpet, the country singer-songwriter opened up about being a huge fan of the band.When asked about his favourite One Direction song, the singer enthusiastically answered, saying, “Steal My Girl.” Not only that, but he even ended up belting out the lyrics to the song along with the interviewers.

Further in the interview, the singer shared that he and Niall Horan have known each other for nearly a decade and that the former One Direction member has become a close friend. Speaking about how the two first met, Rhett revealed that his producer used to work with One Direction back in the day and helped them connect.He said, “I’ve known Niall for a decade now. Our producer, my producer, produced all the 1D stuff back in the day. He produced Teddy Swims, Sabrina Carpenter, he’s awesome.”Rhett further added, “But he introduced me to Niall about a decade ago and we’ve become really good buddies. We put a song out together last year and just decided, ‘Let’s go do some shows together,’ so we’ve got a couple this year.”Last year, the two musicians collaborated and re-released Rhett’s song Old Tricks with Horan’s vocals on it. Rhett further teased that the two of them have gotten together on multiple occasions and are planning to work together on a few concerts this year.
