Belly and Conrad are officially back as ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ film begins production. Prime Video shared the first official photo of Lola Tung and Christopher Briney from the set, giving fans their first look at the pair in the upcoming movie. The update comes as excitement grows around the final chapter of Jenny Han’s bestselling story, but the makers also asked fans to stop visiting filming locations and sharing set videos.

‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ film begins production

Prime Video shared the first-look image on its official Instagram page. The photo shows Lola Tung and Christopher Briney, who play Belly and Conrad, posing for a selfie.The post confirmed that the film is now in production. The caption read, “Did you miss them? The Summer I Turned Pretty movie is now in production (sic).”The update quickly drew attention from fans of the hit franchise. The film will continue Belly’s story after the events of the series. Plot details remain under wraps, but the movie is expected to follow Belly after she chose Conrad over Jeremiah, played by Gavin Casalegno.The cast also includes Rain Spencer, Sean Kaufman and Rachel Blanchard. The film is being shot in North Carolina.

Makers ask fans to protect ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ set

The production update arrived after several behind-the-scenes clips from the set began circulating online. Fans were also seen gathering near the shoot location. On May 5, the show’s official account posted a message asking viewers to give the cast and crew space.A video shared with the statement showed the words “privacy please” written in the sand.The caption read, “We love the excitement, but sharing locations and visiting set disrupts filming and creates real safety concerns for our cast and crew (sic).”It added, “We’re working hard to create a protected bubble to make the best movie possible. Please help us protect the magic of Cousins until it’s ready to be shared (sic).”Jenny Han also addressed the issue on Instagram Stories. She wrote, “When people come to set, film, and share videos, it disrupts the work. It makes it harder for actors to get into character and causes unnecessary anxiety (sic).”She added, “We often have to stop production to clear crowds from the shot, which breaks the crew’s focus.”Han said she wants to give fans “the best version of this movie.” The film will serve as the concluding chapter of ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty.’
