The Raja Saab is looking at a huge loss in North America

Prabhas's 'The Raja Saab' is looking at a huge loss in North America with break even pegged at USD 10 million

Prabhas’ ‘The Raja Saab’ is facing a significant box office challenge in North America, projected for substantial losses. Despite a strong holiday release, its collections lag far behind its break-even target. Competitors like Chiranjeevi’s ‘Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu’ and Naveen Polishetty’s ‘Anaganaga Oka Raju’ have outperformed it, highlighting a disappointing performance for the Prabhas starrer.

Prabhas’ latest release The Raja Saab is facing a tough box office reality in North America, where the film is heading toward a heavy loss-making outcome. The romantic horror entertainer released on January 9 and entered the crucial Sankranti corridor with significant expectations, particularly due to Prabhas’ strong overseas pull and the lucrative holiday window for Telugu cinema. However, the film’s reception has proven to be a major setback for buyers in the region.According to trade data, The Raja Saab had collected USD 2.33 million in North America till Friday. On Saturday, it added a meagre USD 9,000, taking its cumulative total to approximately USD 2.339 million. The concerning factor isn’t just the stagnation but the film’s break-even benchmark which has pegged at USD 10 million. With collections now nearing their saturation point and weekday drops widening, the film is unlikely to recover even a fraction of its overseas valuation. The performance becomes even more apparent when placed in comparison to other Sankranti releases. Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, released on January 12, has already crossed the USD 2.5 million mark overtaking The Raja Saab in just five days. With strong family footfalls and festival push, trade circles now see Chiranjeevi’s film as the clear winner in the North American leg of the Sankranti slate.Meanwhile, Naveen Polishetty’s Anaganaga Oka Raju, which opened on January 14, has also surprised the trade with its trajectory. The comedy entertainer has crossed the USD 1 million milestone within four days, comfortably overtaking The Raja Saab’s weekend pace despite being a significantly smaller film in scale and costing.Even Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar’s Dhurnandhar which is already in its 8th week added USD 75,000 on Saturday to its collection. In India as well The Raja Saab’s numbers are not very encouraging Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu has already amassed Rs 139.85 crore in 5 days as against The Raja Saab which has collected Rs 136.61 crore in 9 days.
