‘The Matrix 5’ in the works director confirms

‘The Matrix 5’ in the works director confirms; Priyanka Chopra to return as Sati?

After nearly two years of little to no updates on ‘The Matrix 5’, the makers are finally speaking up about the film and letting fans in on the details. The cyberpunk sci-fi franchise, which was revived in 2021 with ‘The Matrix Resurrections’, was a box office failure, earning approximately USD 160 million against a reported USD 190 million budget. However, despite the poor performance, Warner Bros. moved forward with plans for a new instalment.

Director confirms ‘The Matrix 5’

In a recent interview with ScreenRant while promoting ‘Project Hail Mary’, Drew Goddard who was tapped to write and direct, confirmed that the sequel remains in development. “It’s still in the works. I’m in my writing cave writing. I don’t know how long I’ll be in that writing cave, but whenever I come out, I’ll have news to share,” he said.

‘The Matrix 5’ cast

Casting decisions are also yet to be confirmed, with no clear indication whether franchise leads Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will reprise their iconic roles as Neo and Trinity. While Reeves previously indicated that he would be open to returning as Neo, Moss has seemingly moved on to her next project, ‘Yaga’, an upcoming Canadian mystery thriller, based on a play by Kat Sandler that reimagines the Slavic Baba Yaga myth. The series is planned for an eight-episode release. Meanwhile, Laurence Fishburne, who played Morpheus in the original trilogy, has expressed some hesitation in the past. His character was reimagined in Resurrections, with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II portraying an AI program based on Morpheus.

Will Priyanka Chopra return?

Another question surrounding the casting is whether Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra will return. The actress played the adult Sati in ‘The Matrix Resurrections’. While her character’s arc appeared largely resolved, there has been no official word on whether she will reprise the role. Go to Source
