Thamma box office day 2: Film collects Rs 42 crore

Thamma box office day 2: Ayushmann Khurrana-Rashmika Mandanna film collects Rs 42 crore

Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s ‘Thamma’ had a strong opening, collecting Rs 24 crore on its first day. Despite a slight dip on Wednesday due to the post-Diwali workday, the film maintained steady momentum with positive word-of-mouth, earning Rs 18 crore on its second day. The film’s performance in the coming working days will be crucial for a strong weekend.

After setting the cash registers ringing at the box office on its opening day with over Rs 24 crore, collection of Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Thamma dipped slightly on Wednesday due to the post-Diwali workday. However, positive word of mouth helped it maintain steady momentum.

Day-wise box office figures

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Thamma earned Rs 24 crore crore net on its opening day. On day 2, footfalls dropped, with morning shows seeing about 10 percent occupancy compared to 16 percent on day 1. The film collected Rs 18 crore on Wednesday, bringing its two-day total to Rs 42 crore. Despite the dip, Thamma managed to keep its day 2 drop to around 25 percent.

The crucial test ahead

The real test for Thamma begins on Thursday, as it faces two working days before the weekend. While the Diwali boost and positive reviews helped its start, the film now needs to hold steady to ensure a strong weekend. Trade experts say earning below Rs 100 crore net in the six-day extended weekend would be considered underwhelming.

Rashmika on stepping into the horror genre

In a recent media interaction Rashmika described her experience entering the horror universe of ‘Thamma’ as stepping into a completely new world. She said in an interview with Pinkvilla,“It’s a completely new world. It’s got a lot of performance. As an actor, emotionally and physically, doing all the crazy things is another thing and I get to do it and I think I manifested ‘Thamma’ into her life.”The actor emphasized how the role allowed her to explore a different dimension of performance where there is a mix of horror, emotion, and physicality in ways she hadn’t experienced before.

Exploring action for the first time

In another interview, Rashmika also spoke about how ‘Thamma’ marked her first venture into action-oriented roles, paving the way for her upcoming film ‘Mysaa’, an action-thriller set against a tribal backdrop. Rashmika said that she felt ‘Thamma’ was the first entrance for her into anything in an action space. “Before that, I had only been doing performances. Thamma is still at the entrance while I am filming a movie called Mysaa, which is physical, intense, and action-packed,” said the actress. She reflected on her love for the physical aspects of the role, saying that performing action sequences allowed her to experience an entire cinematic world in a new way.DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers in this article are compiled from our proprietary sources and diverse public data.
