Tanishaa Mukerji relives Durga Puja memories; opens up about 'beautiful and intimate' family bonding festive moments

Durga Puja is just around the corner and Tanishaa Mukerji is all set to ring in the festivities. It’s the time of year when family, memories, and tradition all come together. Every year, Tanishaa joins her relatives at the North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja. This is something the Mukerji family has been part of for decades. But during the festive season, she must shed her actress image to embrace the role of granddaughter, daughter, and sister who helps keep the flame of family tradition alive.

Tanishaa relives the memories

Tanishaa opened up about her earliest memories of the Puja during a recent interview with Pinkvilla. She recalled a time when the celebrations were much smaller. She said that the festivities were held behind a school with just a few saree-clad women, food stalls, and the entire extended family sitting together on the ground.

“It was really beautiful and intimate and obviously my favourite memory,” she shared. The actress further said, that while the festival has grown in scale, its essence of giving and community remains unchanged. She also highlighted how the Mukherji family’s tradition of feeding and welcoming people, including devotees who travel from as far as Kolkata, is what makes it truly fulfilling.The actress expressed pride in continuing what her grandmother had once started. “We are not doing this for ourselves… what my grandmother began is being followed till now, and it is very gratifying,” she said warmly.Last year, the Mukerji family’s celebrations made headlines when Kajol, Rani Mukerji, and Tanishaa were spotted together at the pandal. A video of Tanishaa performing the dhunuchi dance also went viral, delighting fans.On the work front, Tanishaa has carved her space in Bollywood with films like ‘Sssshhh…, Neal ’n’ Nikki’, ‘Tango Charlie’, and ‘Tum Milo Toh Sahi’.
