‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ expected to open at Rs10-12 crore

'Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari' advance box office: The Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor film expected to open at Rs 10-12 crore

Varun Dhawan is gearing up for his big-screen comeback with ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’, after ‘Baby John’. The film sees him opposite Janhvi Kapoor. The duo had worked together earlier in ‘Bawaal’. The film’s advance bookings look decent at the moment but there’s still scope for it to get further push. The advance sales have been steady but not spectacular, with roughly 10529 tickets booked across the country, according to Sacnilk. PVR Inox contributed the lion’s share with close to 7,500 bookings, while Cinepolis added another 1,700. With two full days before release, trade circles estimate that pre-sales could climb to the 50,000-mark by Friday, according to Pinkvilla. The film is expected to open ₹10.50 crore and ₹12.50 crore, hinging on last-minute spot bookings and audience feedback once shows begin. Analysts stress that its reception will play a pivotal role not only in Varun Dhawan’s current streak but also in shaping Dharma’s run of traditional entertainers.Post-pandemic shifts in audience taste have made predictions cautious. Still, the industry consensus is that ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ has room to grow: if the narrative connects, evening and night shows should witness stronger turnout. ‘Sunny Sanskari..’ is directed by Shashank Khaitan who has earlier made movies like ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’, ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’, ‘Dhadak’ among others. The film also boasts a supporting cast of Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, and Maniesh Paul. However, it enters cinemas alongside heavy competition, Rishab Shetty’s much-hyped ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’. Early tracking suggests the Kannada star’s pan-India epic is leading in advance bookings, giving it a head start. While Kantara 2 is currently ahead in the race, the numbers haven’t quite matched the buzz that trade expected. The original Kantara (2022) had displayed an extraordinary box office journey—rising from just over ₹1 crore nett on opening day to more than ₹80 crore nett in the long run—so anticipation for its sequel’s pre-sales was naturally much higher than what early figures are indicating.
