SS Rajamouli gives big ‘Varanasi’ update

SS Rajamouli confirms Mahesh Babu starrer 'Varanasi' shoot nears completion; says only 80 days of filming remain

The ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli is working on his next big project ‘Varanasi’ with a star cast including Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithiviraj Sukumaran. The film is currently in the production stage and it appears that the makers have around 80 days of filming left before wrapping up.

Over 80 days left for ‘Varanasi’ shoot

According to a report by Pinkvilla, the ‘Baahubali’ director attended the release event of ‘RRR’ in France. During his interaction, he spoke about the progress of ‘Varanasi’. He said only a small part of the shoot is now left before the film is completed.Rajamouli said, “My producer is right there, so he wouldn’t let me reveal too much. I can say that we have finished the major action spectacle portions of the film and we just have small portions which will be wrapped up in 80 days.”

Massive ‘Varanasi’ shoot scheduled

On the other hand, a few days ago, a Mid-Day report claimed that the team is gearing up for a new shooting schedule from July 7 in Hyderabad. Mahesh Babu is expected to shoot with nearly 3,500 junior artistes. The team has been preparing for this sequence for many weeks. The war episode is said to be one of the biggest scenes ever planned by SS Rajamouli. The scenes to be filmed in Hyderabad will be only the beginning of this massive sequence.

About ‘Varanasi’

Speaking about ‘Varanasi’, the film is said to be a time travelling action adventure film, which follows a Shiva devotee who travels across different periods of time to find a lost cosmic artifact with great power.Mahesh Babu plays Rudhra in the film. Priyanka Chopra Jonas plays Mandakini, while Prithviraj Sukumaran will be seen as Kumbha as the main antagonist.‘Varanasi’ is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on April 7, 2027.
