SRK’s annual birthday fan meet outside Mannat cancelled, actor says “I will miss seeing you”

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan broke away from tradition and cancelled his anual fan meet at Mannat. As fans gathered in large numbers outside the actor’s residence to mark his milestone 60th birthday, Khan, took to to handle to announce that the most-cherished ritual has been cancelled for safety reasons. In a heartfelt note, Khan apologised to his fans and revealed that he had been advised by cops not to appear at Mannat’s gates.

His tweet read, “Have been advised by authorities that I will not be able to step out and greet all you lovely people who have been waiting for me. My deepest apologies to all of you…”He went on to add, “…have been informed that it is for the overall safety of everyone due to crowd control issues. Thank you for understanding and believe me, I will miss seeing you more than you will. Was looking forward to seeing you all and sharing love. Love u all…”

Police face crowd control issues

It is worth mentioning streets outside Shah Rukh’s home, Mannat, saw a surge of fans taking to the streets, awaiting the actor’s appearance at his gate on Sunday. Fans flocked to the actor’s residence on Saturday, to possibly spot him at midnight and kick off the celebrations with other fans from all over the country. However, owing to security reasons, fans tweeted that police soon barred the area in front of the actor’s home, prompting fans to crowd around the area. Crowds had lined the streets, holding posters and banners reading “We love you SRK” and “Happy Birthday King Khan”. Fans were even seen chanting his name outside the residence hoping for his big appearance.

Prior to this, SRK, rang in his birthday in Alibaug with his family and closest friends including Karan Johar, Farah Khan, Rani Mukerji and a few others.

However, fans did not go away empty handed. On the occasion of his birthday, SRK and director Siddharth Anand launched the first glimpse video from their upcoming action film ‘King’.
