SRK gets relief as Supreme Court rejects plea against ‘Mannat’ CRZ clearance

Shah Rukh Khan gets relief as Supreme Court rejects plea against 'Mannat' CRZ clearance, this paves way for two additional floors to his house

Shah Rukh Khan has received legal relief in the long-running dispute over the renovation of his Mumbai home, ‘Mannat’. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court dismissed a petition challenging the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearance granted for the project, clearing the way for the actor to proceed with plans that include adding two more floors to the sea-facing bungalow.According to ANI, the apex court declined to interfere with an earlier order passed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT), which had rejected objections to the CRZ approval.A Bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V Mohana dismissed the appeal filed by Mumbai-based activist Santosh Daundkar. The activist had challenged the order of the NGT’s Western Zone Bench in Pune, alleging irregularities in the approvals granted by the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) for the proposed renovation and expansion of ‘Mannat’.While refusing to entertain the appeal, the Bench observed that it had “serious doubts over the bona fide” (genuineness) of the petition. The legal challenge stemmed from a September 2025 order of the NGT’s Pune bench, which had upheld the CRZ clearance issued by the MCZMA and dismissed Daundkar’s objections. The activist subsequently moved the Supreme Court, seeking to overturn the tribunal’s decision. However, the Supreme court refused to intervene, effectively upholding the NGT’s ruling and bringing the legal proceedings to a close. With the Supreme Court dismissing the appeal, the CRZ clearance granted for the renovation and expansion of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Mannat’ remains in force, allowing the planned construction, including the addition of two floors, to go ahead.
