‘Squid Game America’ to begin shooting in February 2026

'Squid Game America': David Fincher's project to begin shoot in February 2026

The pink-uniformed army is returning to the screens, but this time in an American version. After an easter egg in the final season of ‘Squid Game’ with Cate Blanchett’s cameo by the end, the project has finally moved ahead. As David Fincher takes over the western project, the filming will reportedly begin in February 2026.

All about ‘Squid Game: America’

The American ‘Squid Game’ will reportedly be disconnected from the original Korean series. Moreover, it remains unclear whether Blanchett would be playing the role of recruiter or if she would be starring in the series. The cast is yet to be revealed; however, a new listing from the Film and Television Industry Alliance website confirms that the new series titled ‘Squid Game: America’ will roll the cameras soon, as per Collider. Fincher, who is renowned for his prominence in the thriller genre with projects like ‘Gone Girl,’ ‘Zodiac,’ ‘Panic Room,’ ‘The Killer,’ ‘Fight Club,’ and more, has not publicly acknowledged the project. However, the original creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, confirmed the show’s existence and showed support. The potential release of the version is projected to be in February 2028.

The ‘Squid Game’-verse

‘Squid Game’ became one of the smashing debuts on the OTT platform, where the views transcended the skies. After the release in 2021, the fans continued to theorize and obsess over the gut-wrenching plot and mind-numbing games, imagining alliances with the fictional characters. However, many fans shared their discontent with the recently released seasons 2 and 3, arguing that they didn’t live up to the hype. Meanwhile, other fanatics had a chance to live the experience in the realm of the thrilling game on the reality show. ‘Squid Game: The Challenge’ Season 2 was recently released on Netflix, and the maestro was crowned the ultimate winner as well.
