Sonali Bendre gets candid about her upcoming series ‘Raakh,’ which is slated to release on June 12.

The world behind lights, camera and action has more to it than what meets the eye. In most of the acting jobs, more than physical effort, it is mental strength and emotional grit that come into play. Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre, who has been ruling both the big and small screen for years now, also believes the same. Thus, when she was offered her latest project, ‘Raakh,’ she both acknowledged and appreciated the intensity it brought. While speaking to us, in an exclusive conversation, the actress says, “Over the last few years, I found myself naturally gravitating towards stories that felt lighter emotionally. So when Raakh came along, I did wonder what it would be like to spend so much time in such an intense emotional space.” Sonali Bendre on the impact of ‘Raakh’She continues, “What surprised me was realising that I was able to engage with those emotions without carrying them home with me. As an actor, that was reassuring.” Highlighting the importance of balancing, she adds, “It reminded me that you can go to difficult places in your work and remain grounded in yourself.”

Reflecting on one of the personal takeaways from working on ‘Raakh,’ Sonali shared, “This project made me rethink something I hadn’t consciously examined before. I realised that protecting yourself as a person and being open as an actor are not mutually exclusive.” “It allowed me to explore emotions that are uncomfortable and complex, while also trusting that I could step away from them when the work was done. That was an important discovery for me,” she concludes.
