Sonakshi reveals dad Shatrughan and Zaheer have become good friends

Sonakshi Sinha says religion will never come between her and Zaheer Iqbal, reveals 'dad Shatrughan Sinha and he have become good friends'

Sonakshi Sinha discussed her marriage with Zaheer Iqbal, emphasizing that religion has never been an issue in their relationship due to mutual respect for each other’s customs. She highlighted Zaheer’s strong bond with her parents, mentioning their friendly interactions. Sonakshi also shared that their relationship is built on laughter and joy.

Sonakshi Sinha recently opened up about her interfaith marriage with Zaheer Iqbal. The actress also spilled some beans about her parents Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha’s bond with her husband.

Religion will never come in between

In conversation with The Right Angle with Sonal Kalra, Sonakshi spoke about whether religion has ever come in between their relationship. She said, “In how we are as a couple, no. In how we are at home, in terms of the different ways that we’ve been brought up in, there are certain customs that he and his family follow, which I really respect, and there are certain customs that me and my family follow, which they respect. Religion is something that will never come in between the two of us. There’s never been any question, fight, or tension when it comes to that, and I think that’s the most beautiful part of it. Our strength lies in respect.”

Zaheer’s bond with her parents

Talking about Zaheer’s bond with her parents, Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha, the actress added, “Everyone runs helter-skelter when he comes, saying ‘Zaheer aa rahe hai, damad ji aa rahe hai.’ My mom keeps asking kya khayega, kya khayega, and my dad loves spending time with him. I think they’ve become really good friends. When I enter the room, it’s usually the two of them talking while I sit quietly!”

A bond built on laughter

Sonakshi further spoke about what made their bond special after seven years of dating before marriage. “We say we want to find someone we want to grow old with. But after being with a person like Zaheer, you realise you need someone you can remain a child with. Ussi se hansi mazak barkarar rehta hai. You are constantly laughing. This was something I was missing in my life. Ab aa chuka hai, toh I couldn’t be happier,” Sonakshi shared. On the work front, Sonakshi will next be seen in Jatadhara, alongside Sudheer Babu. The film also features Divya Khossla, Shilpa Shirodkar, Indira Krishna, Ravi Prakash, Naveen Neni, Rohit Pathak, Jhansi, Rajeev Kanakala, and Subhalekha Sudhakar. Directors Venkat Kalyan and Abhishek Jaiswal had shared that Jatadhara is rooted in a folk tale, where darkness will collide with divine power, bringing audiences face-to-face with God. “It’s a story of faith, fear, and cosmic destiny,” they added.
