Shruti Haasan reveals hiding her identity in school to escape fame

Shruti Haasan reveals hiding her identity in school; 'Coolie' star used a fake name to escape Kamal Haasan's fame

Shruti Haasan may be the daughter of legendary actor Kamal Haasan, but during her childhood, she reportedly struggled with the constant attention that came with his fame. Everywhere she went, people identified her only as “Kamal Haasan’s daughter.” While many would enjoy such recognition, Shruti Haasan apparently found it overwhelming as a school student. She wanted people to know her for who she was instead of only connecting her to her superstar father.

Shruti Haasan’s funny school secret

To avoid questions about her famous family, Shruti Haasan reportedly created a completely different identity for herself during her school days. During a chat with Sudhir Srinivasan, the actress revealed that whenever someone asked if she was Kamal Haasan’s daughter, she would confidently reply, “No, my name is Pooja Ramachandran, and my father is Dr Ramachandran.” The funniest part is that the name actually belonged to her dentist. Shruti used the dentist’s name simply because she wanted to avoid celebrity attention and live like an ordinary child without people constantly talking about cinema and stardom around her.

Kamal Haasan’s fame followed Shruti everywhere in Chennai

Life in Chennai reportedly became difficult for Shruti Haasan because Kamal Haasan’s popularity was impossible to escape. His posters and fans were everywhere in the city, making it hard for her to stay unnoticed. Later, after Kamal Haasan and Sarika separated, Shruti moved to Mumbai. The shift reportedly helped her find more personal space and gave her the confidence to slowly build her own identity in the entertainment industry through acting, music, and performance.

Shruti Haasan now proudly carries her father’s legacy

Over the years, Shruti Haasan’s thoughts about her father’s fame changed completely. The actress, who once tried to hide her identity, now openly expresses her love and respect for Kamal Haasan. She has reportedly admitted that she cannot imagine herself without carrying his name today. Many fans admire the fact that Shruti made it on her own without losing touch with her roots. Starting from dressing up as “Pooja Ramachandran” in school to becoming a renowned actress in various fields, she has been an inspiration for numerous young people. Go to Source
