Shraddha Kapoor has commenced shooting for ‘Eetha’, a biopic directed by Laxman Utekar, focusing on the life of legendary Tamasha artist Vithabai. The film, whose title reflects a regional pronunciation of ‘Vitha’, began production on November 1, 2025. Kapoor’s recent success includes ‘Stree 2’, with ‘Stree 3’ and ‘Naagin’ also on her upcoming slate.

Reportedly, she was born in July 1935 in Pandharpur, Solapur district; she belonged to the family of performers. Vithabai started her career at a very young age. She has even earned the President’s Award for her contributions to folk culture twice—first in 1957 and then in 1990.Vithabai was known for her energy, powerful voice, and dance performances.

“Eetha” is how the name “Vitha” is pronounced in some areas of Maharashtra, especially in remote areas. And hence the title is ‘Eetha’.

About Shraddha Kapoor

The actress was last seen in the film ‘Stree 2’, starring Rajkummar Rao, Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee, Pankaj Tripathi, and others. The movie was released in theaters on August 15, 2024. It went on to cross over Rs 500 crore at the box office.Reportedly, she will be back as ‘Stree’ in the third installment of the film. As per the reports, it has been scheduled to hit theaters in August 2027. Not just that, the actress had announced that she will be starring in the trilogy film ‘Naagin’.
