Shobhaa De reviews ‘Dhurandhar 2’, says Arjun chewed Ranveer

Shobhaa De reviews 'Dhurandhar 2', says Arjun Rampal chewed everyone including Ranveer Singh, missed Akshaye Khanna's Rehman Dakait

After the release of ‘Dhurandhar 2′, the film has been getting rave reviews along with a bit of criticism. Apart from fans, many celebs also have showered love on the Aditya Dhar directorial. Now Shobhaa De has also shared what she thought about the Ranveer Singh starrer. She dropped a video on Instagram and compared the sequel to its predecessor and said that the first part had greater depth and suspense which kept the viewers invested in the characters. In contrast, she felt the second instalment lacked novelty and leaned towards predictability.”Maybe it was the newness then, in this one, there was a bit of a deja vu. I could almost predict what’s going to happen next which is never good. Good cinema is about keeping you tense and making you wonder. People have called it a masterpiece. Sorry, it’s not a masterpiece, at least not for me,” she said.’Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ ReviewPraising Arjun’s performance, she remarked that he “chewed up everyone, including Ranveer. Sorry Ranveer, but he did.” She also commended Sanjay Dutt, describing his act as controlled, menacing, and flawless.Shobhaa further pointed out the absence of Akshaye Khanna’s character, Rehman Dakait, from the sequel, saying it affected the film’s overall style and charm. She said, “Without Rehman Dakait, the style was not there. The wonderful impromptu dance was not there, there was a version of the Baloch dance, but it was nowhere near that one,” referring to the FA9LA dance from the first film. She didn’t hold back while critiquing the writing and execution either. According to her, the film lacked grip, with many viewers losing attention during screenings. “I didn’t honestly think much of the script this time. The music again predictable… This had no Ramba Ho Ho Ho, though I loved the way Rasputin was used. But there was no Shararat… There was no glamour at all… The jingoism was underlined in this but it was balanced.”In her caption, Shobhaa described the film as overly explanatory, likening it to “tutoring school kids on how baddies operate.” She added that the dialogues felt too obvious, relying heavily on clichés and familiar tropes. The action sequences, she noted, seemed excessive at times, with frequent car explosions reminiscent of Rohit Shetty’s style. She also highlighted smaller details, including Ranveer’s neatly styled hair even during intense combat scenes. While acknowledging a few smart twists, she questioned the effectiveness of the climax set in Pathankot, calling it an “anti-climax.” Go to Source
