Shaun Romy opens up about Mohanlal

‘Karakkam’ promises horror, comedy and music

Talking about ‘Karakkam’, Shaun revealed that the film combines supernatural elements with humour and music. The actress plays a character named Rani Mariya and explained that the story revolves around a group of ghosts who unexpectedly return to the world of the living.Describing the plot, she said, “It’s a comedy, a light-hearted film with proper ghost vibes. My character’s name is Rani Mariya, and we are all ghosts. I don’t want to explain exactly why we are there, but basically, we just want to go back, and suddenly, we are summoned into the real world. Even we are scared. Then we get stuck with these two characters, played by Sreenath Bhasi and Pravin, and we are literally forcing them to take us back. The story explores how we came back to life and what our backstory is. These two characters take us back to where we came from, and the whole journey unfolds from there. It’s a funny, light-hearted comedy.”She also expressed her enthusiasm for the film’s musical aspects and retro-inspired style.Reacting to the film being promoted as Malayalam cinema’s first musical horror comedy, Shaun said, “I loved learning the dance sequences. It has a strong 80s vibe, very much from the Michael Jackson era. The costumes, the choreography, and everything associated with the dancing were exciting. Music is a major part of the film. Even on set, we used to play music all the time while the cameras were rolling.”Directed by Nipin Narayanan, ‘Karakkam’ features a cast that includes Sreenath Bhasi, Femina George, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Sidharth Bharathan, Bijukuttan, Manikandan R.
