Shania Twain, one of the biggest icons in pop culture who rose to fame in 1995 with the release of her second studio album, ‘The Woman in Me.’ The singer is joining the list of celebrities as the latest entry to get a biopic made about them. Here is what we know so far about the upcoming project.

Shania Twain’s biopic is in the works

Deadline reported that a biopic about Shania Twain’s life is currently in the works. Not only that, but the 60 year old will also be joining the project as a producer. Titled ‘Shania’, the film is set to be written and directed by Leah McKendrick, and is said to be about Twain’s life as a pop icon and her rise to fame.McKendrick has worked as a singer and songwriter in the past, including on projects such as ‘Scrambled’, released in 2013, and the OTT release ‘Voicemails for Isabelle.’ She even posted about the project on her social media account, sharing how it is such a dream come true for her.Posting about the biopic, she wrote, “Long before I was making movies, I was shooting Shania music videos in my bedroom. This wild-hearted force of a woman means so much to me – and the world. It is a surreal dream come true to get to bring her trailblazing, gut-punching, awe-inspiring story to the screen (and ride horses and eat pasta in the process!) I am honored. I am humbled. I am READY. Let’s go, girls.”Not much else has been revealed about the upcoming film, as it is still in the early stages of development. However, it has been reported that the film will cover her journey from being a nobody from Windsor, Ontario, to becoming one of the biggest musical legends in the 90s.Some of her biggest hits that have garnered her a lot of attention include, ‘You’re Still The One’, ‘I’m Gonna Getcha Good’, ‘Any Man of Mine’, and ‘I’m Gonna Getcha Good’, to name a few.

About Shania Twain’s latest endevours

On the work front, Twain is all set to release her 7th official studio album titled ‘Little Miss Twain’, which is slated for release next month. While in conversation with PEOPLE, Twain opened up about what the album is going to be about. She cited, “I’m turning 60 and I feel good and I’ve got to celebrate that. I’m grateful to have made it this far. So I was celebrating that with all of the Queen of Me music. But who makes you who you become basically. I had never shared that with the fans before.”Her latest studio album, ‘Little Miss Twain’, will be her first album since 2023, when she released ‘Queen of Me’.
