Shaan pays tribute to mother, Sonali Mukherjee on her birthday

Taking to his social media handle, the ‘Tanha Dil’ singer posted a video from an interview that his mother, Sonali Mukherjee, did with famed host Farooq Sheikh on ‘Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai.’ In the video, Mukherjee was seen attending the interview along with her son as well as other guests, as she talked about how Shaan was as a child. In the video, she told the host that she would often make him sing for guests whenever someone came over to visit them. She shared that while Shaan’s sister, Sagarika, would often sing in front of everyone, Shaan would often be scared of the whole ordeal. She also shared that many times as a child, he would come up to her running into the kitchen. He would hold on to her and cry about why she was making him do all this. To this, the singer’s mother said that she used to tell him “Nai nai babu tum bade hoke zarur gaoge” (No, no son, you will definitely sing when you grow old), whenever this happened. In the old clip, she also mentioned how she has been to every recital and any other event that Shaan and Sagarika were a part of, and that she was extremely proud of them both too.Shaan posted the video along with a heartfelt caption that read, “On my Dearest Maa’s Birthday today, sharing a small clip where she spoke about our early days with Farook Sheikh saab ..She raised us @sagarika.dc and me all on her own with such dignity and grace …and selflessness and gratitude (smiling face and prayer emoji).. Proud of my Maa !! Whatever much I am .. I am because of how She was (smiling face emoji)..”Shaan’s mother passed away in 2022.
