Samantha Ruth Prabhu has opened up about the impact of fame on her life and career, admitting that early success made her “egoistic” and deeply invested in the pursuit of stardom. Reflecting on her journey, the actor said a health-related break eventually helped her reassess her priorities and gain a new perspective on life.In an interview with Gulte, Samantha recalled how overwhelming it was for a girl from a small town to suddenly experience immense fame and admiration. She said the adulation she received in the early years of her career — with audiences cheering for her and calling out her name — made her feel “addicted to the game of stardom.”The actor revealed that she once delivered five successful films in a single year, leading many in the industry to describe her as having a “golden leg.” The tag, she admitted, came with mounting expectations and pressure to maintain her success streak.

‘You become so egoistic as an actor’

Speaking candidly about how success affected her mindset, Samantha said she reached a point where she believed her career would continue indefinitely.“You become so egoistic as an actor that you see no end; you refuse to see there is an end,” she said. The actor shared that when she was forced to step away from work due to health concerns, she was at the peak of her professional hustle, constantly looking for more projects and opportunities. The unexpected pause, however, became a turning point.According to Samantha, the break allowed her to finally acknowledge that a career can have limits, a realization that significantly altered the way she views both work and life. She added that during that period, she promised herself that if she returned to acting, she would let go of several old habits and patterns.

Health break brought a shift in perspective

The 39-year-old actor said the time away from the spotlight gave her an opportunity to reflect on what truly matters. It helped her detach from the relentless pursuit of success and approach her career with a healthier mindset.Samantha has previously spoken about her battle with the autoimmune condition myositis, which prompted her to take a break from acting and focus on recovery.

Upcoming projects

On the professional front, Samantha will next be seen in Maa Inti Bangaram, which is set to be her first theatrical release of 2026. Her last theatrical outings were Shaakuntalam and Kushi. In 2024, she starred alongside Varun Dhawan in the Prime Video series Citadel: Honey Bunny, created by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K.. In 2025, she also made a cameo appearance in Subham, a project she produced. The actor is currently shooting for Raj and DK’s upcoming fantasy-action series Rakt Brahmand, which is slated for release in 2026.
