Salman Khan ROASTS Varun for recreating ‘Chunari Chunari’

Salman Khan ROASTS Varun Dhawan for recreating 'Chunari Chunari': 'Isne mera ek aur gaana uthaya'

Salman Khan brought the house down at the David Dhawan Film Festival in Mumbai on Saturday with a perfectly timed joke aimed at Varun Dhawan. The superstar playfully called out the younger actor for recreating yet another of his iconic songs, ‘Chunari Chunari’ from ‘Biwi No. 1’, for the upcoming film ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’, leaving Varun equal parts amused and embarrassed in front of the crowd.

Salman Khan takes a hilarious dig at Varun Dhawan over ‘Chunari Chunari’ remake

According to the Hindustan Times report, Salman Khan’s surprise presence emerged as the evening’s biggest talking point. Dressed in a black T-shirt, leather jacket, and denims, Salman instantly evoked his signature style from the late 1990s and early 2000s. Videos of his arrival and his interactions with the father-son duo quickly surfaced across social media. The moment that sent the internet into a frenzy came when Salman addressed the crowd with a characteristically deadpan jab at Varun. He was heard saying, “Isne mera ek aur gaana uthaya,” drawing instant laughter from everyone in the room. A visibly flustered Varun could only respond with “Bahi rehne do,” pleading with Salman to stop, which only made it funnier.

Do you think Salman Khan joke at Varun Dhawan was funny?

The remark referred to the recreation of ‘Chunari Chunari’, the beloved 1999 track from ‘Biwi No. 1’ that originally featured Salman Khan alongside Sushmita Sen. The song remains one of the most iconic numbers associated with Salman to this day. This is not the first time Varun has drawn from Salman’s back catalogue; he has previously appeared in recreated versions of ‘Chalti Hai Kya 9 Se 12’ and ‘Oonchi Hai Building’.

About ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’

The new version of ‘Chunari Chunari’ features Varun Dhawan alongside Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur in ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’, directed by David Dhawan. The film marks the fourth collaboration between the Dhawan duo and is set for a worldwide theatrical release on June 5, 2026.
