Salman Khan in legal trouble for endorsing paan masala brand

Salman Khan in legal trouble for endorsing a paan masala brand, gets notice from consumer court in Kota: 'He is a role model'

Salman Khan, known for his long list of brand endorsements, has found himself in legal trouble over one of his latest ads. A consumer court in Kota has sent a notice to the Bollywood superstar after a complaint was filed regarding his endorsement of an elaichi product, thus sparking debate over celebrities and their responsibility to be careful while choosing brand endorsements. The complaint, filed by BJP leader and Rajasthan High Court advocate Inder Mohan Singh Honey, alleges that the advertisement is misleading. According to the petition, the brand’s promotion claims that the elaichi and pan masala products are “saffron-infused,” despite being priced at just ₹5.

Honey argued that such a claim is unrealistic since saffron costs nearly ₹4 lakh per kilogram. He also raised concerns that such ads could encourage young people to consume pan masala, which he described as harmful.“Salman Khan is a role model for many people. We have filed a complaint against it in the Kota Consumer Court, and notices have been issued for a hearing. Celebrities or film stars in other countries don’t even promote cold drinks, but they are promoting tobacco and pan masala. I urge them not to spread the wrong message to the youth, as pan masala is one of the leading causes of mouth cancer,” the petitioner told ANI.The Kota Consumer Court has now issued notices to both Salman Khan and the manufacturing company, seeking their response. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for November 27.Meanwhile, on work front, Salman is currently busy with the latest season of ‘Bigg Boss’ and the actor is shooting for ‘Battle Of Galwan’. As per some recent reports, the makers are considering to release the film in June 2026.
