Saif had a ‘rebellious childhood’ reveals sister Soha

Saif Ali Khan had a ‘rebellious childhood’: Soha Ali Khan reveals he would dye his hair red and blonde, sneak out at night

Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore was married to the legendary late Indian cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. They have three children together – Saif Ali Khan, Saba Ali Khan and Soha Ali Khan. Even though they grew up in the well-known Pataudi–Tagore family, with ample glamour around them, their home life was quite normal with rules, discipline and the usual sibling drama. In a recent chat with Mashable, Soha looked back on her bond with her famous brother Saif Ali Khan, revealing how he was always seen as the rebellious one in the family.

Saif Ali Khan and sister Soha grew up worlds apart

The ‘Rang De Basanti’ actress did not spend much time with Saif while growing up. The nine-year age gap between them meant their lives went in very different directions. The ‘Khoya Khoya Chand’ actress revealed, “I and Bhai (brother; Saif) are nine years apart, which is a lot. There wasn’t much of an overlap because when I was born, he went abroad for studies. When he came back, he started working in films, and I went to study in Oxford. After coming to Mumbai, it was when both of us actually started spending time together and became much closer.”

Saif remained a mystery to younger Soha

For a younger sister, the ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ actor felt like someone from a different world. He studied at Winchester and came home only during the holidays. “He was a mystery to me while growing up, because he used to study in Winchester and would only come home for the holidays, and he did whatever he wanted to do,” said Soha.

Parents treated Saif Ali Khan as a warning sign

Soha shared that her parents often used Saif as an example of what not to do. His rebellious behaviour, while amusing to siblings, made their parents anxious. Recalling those days she said, “My parents used to take his example and tell us what not to do. The room that I had growing up actually was his room, but when he came over, I wasn’t allowed to sleep there, because he would often jump out the window at night and come back at unusual hours. He did a lot of things, and my parents didn’t let me sleep in that room because they thought I already looked like him, so I should at least not turn out like him.”

Saif Ali Khan brought excitement and chaos at home

Despite being warned about his wild side, Soha and Saba always looked forward to Saif coming home. He brought with him excitement, “I and my sister used to be very excited for him to come home, because he used to change the energy of the house. You never knew in what state he would turn up; sometimes he would have red hair, blonde hair, or long hair. He had a rebellious childhood.” Go to Source
