RM compares K-Pop to bibimbap

The star also added smiles to the faces of fans by comparing K-pop to the traditional Korean dish bibimbap which he says symbolises ‘harmony in diversity’. In his speech, he said, “We take Korea’s unique aesthetics, notions and production system, but we don’t turn away elements of Western music like hip-hop, R&B or EDM. Just like bibimbap, these parts all keep their unique identities but mix together to make something new and fresh and delightful. “RM called for greater support for artists and the creative sector saying, “Culture is like a river. It flows freely, different strains sometimes coming together in harmony just like K-pop.” he said, urging leaders to recognise the transformative power of cultural exchange. The singer’s address was historical as it marked the first time that a K-pop artist spoke at the prestigious summit.
