Riddhima recalls terrifying mid-air scare with Samara

Riddhima Kapoor Sahni recalls terrifying mid-air scare with daughter Samara on Delhi–Mumbai flight, ‘She kept asking, Mumma, what is going on?’

Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, daughter of Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor and sister of Ranbir Kapoor, opened up about a frightening experience during her recent flight from Delhi to Mumbai. The actor, who is preparing for her big-screen debut, recounted how her aircraft unexpectedly took off again just seconds after landing on the Mumbai runway.Riddhima was travelling with her 14-year-old daughter, Samara, and shared the incident with Hindustan Times. “It was quite terrifying. We have never experienced this before. We didn’t know what was happening,” the reality show star and interior designer said.

‘My daughter kept holding my hand’

Riddhima revealed that the Kapoor family has a long-standing ritual of writing “JMD” (Jai Mata Di) before take-off and landing — a practice that dates back to her college days.“As soon as I landed, I told my family that I landed and immediately after 4–5 seconds, we started to ascend again. I was really scared. I messaged my family that we are taking off again. For some reason, that message didn’t go through. I’m just glad we landed back safely,” she said. The sudden manoeuvre startled Samara, who clung to her mother throughout the ordeal.“My daughter was very scared and she kept holding my hand and asking, ‘Mumma, what is going on?’ I had to keep calm for her and ensure she was okay. But I was really terrified. Just realised life is too precious,” Riddhima added.

‘For a moment, both our hearts stopped’

On Monday, she also shared a heartfelt note about the experience.“Today, my daughter and I experienced a moment I’ll never forget. Our plane touched down and then suddenly lifted back into the sky. For those few seconds, both of our hearts stopped,” she wrote.“I held her hand so tightly as she looked at me with fear in her eyes, and all I could do was stay strong for her while silently trying to steady my own breath. We were traumatised for a moment, but we’re safe and that’s all that truly matters.”Riddhima, who often gives fans a glimpse into her close-knit Kapoor family on social media, is the mother of Samara and the granddaughter of legendary actor Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor.
