Richa Chadha opens up on working in Hollywood

Richa Chadha opens up on working in Hollywood aiming to follow husband 'Ali Fazal’s footsteps': 'He’s just been so amazing'

Richa Chadha, known for her bold Bollywood roles, now aims to venture into Western cinema, inspired by husband Ali Fazal’s global success in films like ‘Furious 7’ and ‘Death on the Nile’. Having worked in ‘Masaan’ and ‘Love Sonia’, Richa hopes to find strong Hollywood scripts to expand her international career.

Since her debut in 2008, Richa Chadha has steadily built a distinctive place in Bollywood with her bold and unconventional performances. Nearly twenty years later, the actress feels it’s time to expand her horizons and pursue new possibilities in Western cinema. She wants to make her mark in international films, inspired by her husband Ali Fazal, who has acted in movies like ‘Furious 7’ (2015), ‘Victoria & Abdul’ (2017), ‘Death on the Nile’ (2022), and ‘Kandahar’ (2023).

Richa Chadha takes inspiration from Ali Fazal

As reported in Hindustan Times, she said, “I would love to follow in Ali’s footsteps and get something concrete in the West. Who doesn’t want that? He’s just been so amazing at straddling both worlds. Seeing him handle both worlds so beautifully is simply amazing in its own way.”

Richa Chadha’s global film journey

Having already worked on several international projects, Richa isn’t entirely new to the global film scene. Her performances in ‘Words with Gods’ (2014), an Indian-Mexican-American production, the Indo-French film ‘Masaan’ (2015), and the Indo-American drama ‘Love Sonia’ (2018) introduced her to audiences beyond India. This time, however, she has a clearer vision for her international journey. “If I get a good script and character, working in Hollywood would definitely be something that I would love to do,” she adds.

Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal’s upcoming projects

On the professional front, Richa Chadha’s next project is still under wraps. Meanwhile, Ali Fazal is set to return as Guddu Bhaiya in the upcoming film adaptation of the ‘Mirzapur’ series.
