Ravie Dubey: Ranbir has sacrificed so much for ‘Ramayana’

‘Ranbir Kapoor has sacrificed so much’: ‘Ramayana’ co-star Ravie Dubey calls him calm and deeply committed to playing Lord Ram

Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming epic ‘Ramayana’ is already creating waves as one of the most eagerly awaited films in recent times. The film promises a grand spectacle with Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravan, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. Adding to the excitement is actor Ravie Dubey, who steps into the role of Lakshman, Lord Ram’s devoted brother, who follows him into exile for 14 years.Beyond the glitz and grandeur, the film has transformed those involved on a personal level. Dubey revealed how playing Lakshman has been a deeply spiritual and life-changing journey.

Sargun Mehta calls Ravie Dubey’s role divine

Ravie Dubey’s wife, Sargun Mehta was the first to share her joy after learning that her husband had bagged such a special role in Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’.In a chat on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, she said, “I’ve been with him for fourteen years, and it feels like my vanvas has finally ended. All these years, I’ve wanted him to take on a role where people could see the side of him that I see. Right now, I can’t separate him from the character. He’s such a deeply spiritual person that I believe he accepted this role as a divine calling, not just another acting opportunity.”

Ravie Dubey expresses gratitude for collaboration

Talking about his own reaction, Ravie Dubey shared, “I am just very grateful. This was never even in my foresight. The collaboration itself felt impossible. Ranbir [Kapoor] as Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravan, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, A.R. Rahman sir composing the music, and Nitesh Tiwari directing it. It’s incredible. Something like this only happens in dreams. In reality, it’s not possible unless some divine energy is guiding you. I will never be able to repay this debt. I am immensely thankful to Nitesh Tiwari, Namit Malhotra, and Mukesh Chhabra. I will be forever indebted to them.”

Ravie Dubey opens up about personal transformation

Dubey went on to talk about how the film has deeply changed him and everyone working on it. He said, “That role changed me. I had to transform myself to do justice to it because the audience can easily tell when you are faking it. I completely altered my routine. In fact, all of us did including Ranbir Kapoor. He has sacrificed so much for this film. This feels more like a yagya. We all did everything in our power to stay true to these characters in how we behave, react, and even speak.”Reports have suggested that Ranbir Kapoor has quit alcohol and non-vegetarian food to prepare for his role as Lord Ram, and Ravie’s words seem to confirm the kind of commitment the cast has brought to their characters.

Ravie Dubey describes Ramayana as a yagya

Ravie’s comparison of the film to a yagya, a sacred ritual of devotion and offering, perfectly captures the spirit on set. He explained, “I have been on film sets for 25 years, and usually there’s a fair amount of chaos. But I have never seen a set run so seamlessly. Everything functions like clockwork, not a single shift gets extended, everyone is punctual, prepared, and completely surrendered to the commander of the ship, which in our case is Nitesh sir.”

Ravie Dubey praises Ranbir Kapoor’s calm energy

Dubey also shared warm praise for his co-star Ranbir Kapoor, describing his personality both on and off screen. He said, “Ranbir has an incredible aura. He’s quiet, graceful, and deeply committed.” He added, “Ranbir carries a very soft energy, and I think that’s something everyone who meets him would feel.”

Ravie Dubey calls Yash warm and genuine

Talking about his other co-star Yash, who plays Ravan in the film, Ravie said, “He’s an extremely friendly person, very warm and genuine. Both of them are very different, yet equally kind-hearted.”‘Ramayana’ Part 1 is slated to release on Diwali 2026 and Part 2 on Diwali 2027. Go to Source
