In a recent interview, veteran actor Rakesh Bedi opened up about his intriguing role in the highly anticipated film ‘Dhurandhar,’ starring Ranveer Singh. Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ has been rocking the headlines after the makers dropped its gripping trailer recently. Apart from that, the film is also in the news, as the parents of Major Mohit Sharma moved to court to stay the release, stating that the story is based on their son’s life and has been used without their permission. The Delhi HC had then directed the CBFC to address the concerns of the parents and okayed the release. Now, amidst the buzz around the action flick, Rakesh Bedi, who plays an important role in it, shared that his character is based on a real-life person.

Rakesh Bedi reveals his character in the film is real

In an interview with Firstpost, Rakesh Bedi was asked why he said yes to playing the role in the movie. The veteran actor said, “Firstly, he’s a real character, and my look is also very real. He’s a Pakistani politician. And there are some politicians in every regime and every country who know how to stay in power.”The actor even took a dig at leaders in India and said, “We also have a lot of politicians like that in our country, but I don’t want to take names.” The actor shared that he asked director Aditya Dhar to let him add some humor in bits and pieces, as the character is quite “menacing.”After showing reluctance initially, the actor and the director became a team later and made things “very interesting.”

In the same interview, Rakesh Bedi was asked if there are any similarities between Major Mohit Sharma’s life story and Ranveer Singh’s character. The actor added that his own “character is a replica.” He further expressed that even if one makes a love story of a spy, there will be similarities.He added, “It’s a spy film, so there can be many parallels. Even I don’t know the inside story. I don’t know the story of Major Mohit Sharma. We all seek inspiration from somewhere. But I am quite sure of one thing: that everything is inspired in some form or the other.”
