After showcasing his talent in acting, reports of Ranbir Kapoor venturing into direction have been doing rounds on the internet. The actor also wants to revive the legacy production house RK Studios, and it seems he has taken a step towards it. Ranbir Kapoor leases five floors in Andheri East for the new RK Studios
LatestLY reported a post on social media revealed the details of the same. It stated that Ranbir Kapoor has leased five floors of the Kanakia Wall Street Commercial Building in Andheri East, Mumbai, for 20 years to build the new RK Studios. According to the report, the massive space will be turned into a state-of-the-art studio featuring makeup rooms, screening rooms, and a temple.The report added that offices of Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, and Nitasha Nanda, and a temple will be in the space as well.It will be headed by Ranbir Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor.
Details about the new studio
According to the Instagram account Bollygupsip, which quoted a Reddit discussion about Ranbir Kapoor’s 20-year lease deal, the entire area of the space is 250,000 square feet. Meanwhile, other reports stated that it is 9000 square feet. Reportedly, it will be made in such a way that two or three movies can be shot at the same time. As per the report, the first floor will have virtual production, one primary LED volume soundstage (15,000 sq ft) with 1.5 mm pixel-pitch LED panels in a 270° curved configuration for real-time ray-traced environments at 60 fps, and four secondary virtual production soundstages connected via high-speed networking to the AI server farm.The second floor will be for visual effects and family offices, along with an 800-node AI-accelerated server farm. The third floor will be for music and editing, along with 12 music recording studios, 25 digital editing bays, 8 dubbing suites, and a central mini temple for family functions.The fourth floor will have 2 screens for private review with a combined total of 200 seats and 30 post-production/distribution rooms.The fifth floor will feature 40 luxury green room suites, a cafeteria that can accommodate 400 crew members, and climate-controlled storage for 12000 legacy RK items.Meanwhile, the post stated that all the major permissions and clearances, including the High-Rise Fire NOC and Industrial Electrical Load Sanctions, have been acquired. The final BMC change of user certificate is still pending, and it is expected to arrive in March 2026. The FSSAI license for the cafeteria is expected in April 2026. And once everything is in place, the operations can begin in June 2026.
Old RK Studios
The family sold the old RK Studios in Chembur to Godrej Properties for Rs 180 crore. It was founded by the late legendary actor-director Raj Kapoor in 1948.
