The much-awaited trailer of Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana: Part 1’ has become the victim of piracy even before its official digital launch. A 1-minute-28-second clip, reportedly recorded during the exclusive Pratham Sankalp event in New Delhi, surfaced across social media platforms within hours of the screening. In response, producer Namit Malhotra and the film’s legal team have initiated an extensive anti-piracy operation to remove the leaked footage and identify its source. With the official trailer scheduled to release on July 24, the makers are urging fans to avoid unauthorized clips and experience the visuals as intended.

Leaked ‘Ramayana’ Part 1 trailer triggers anti-piracy action

The exclusive preview of Ramayana: Part 1 was meant only for invited guests attending the Pratham Sankalp event in New Delhi. However, shortly after the screening, a phone-recorded clip lasting approximately 1 minute and 28 seconds began circulating online.According to a Mid Day report, the trouble began almost immediately after the screening, when a roughly 88-second clip from the trailer began doing the rounds on social media. According to sources, the footage appears to have been recorded on an attendee’s phone during the event, capturing Rama’s entry sequence along with the moment he agrees to honour his father’s promise to Kaikeyi. Producer Namit Malhotra and director Nitesh Tiwari have since activated their anti-piracy partners and legal teams to identify and remove unauthorised uploads. A source close to the production said the takedown effort has been underway since Saturday night, with the clip successfully pulled from Reddit by Sunday morning, though scrubbing it from X (formerly Twitter) has proven more difficult.

Yash commands the stage in Hindi

Beyond the piracy scare, the Pratham Sankalp preview delivered its share of standout moments. Yash, who plays antagonist Lankesh (Raavan) in the film, impressed the Delhi audience by addressing them entirely in fluent, commanding Hindi. The actor spoke about the scale of the project, framing Ramayana as a film built to introduce Indian history and mythology to a global audience rather than a purely domestic release.

Sai Pallavi on preparing to play Sita

Sai Pallavi shared one of the most emotional moments of the evening while speaking about preparing for the role of Goddess Sita. The actress revealed that she spent months practicing daily meditation, believing it was necessary to achieve the inner calm, compassion and grace required for portraying one of Indian mythology’s most revered characters. The ‘Ek Din’ actress shared, “It’s not easy for actors to get roles like this. Because it’s not easy to play a Goddess. There must be a team putting their heart and soul into making it the best version. I don’t think I chose to play Sita maa. I was blessed to play this role. It’s not something that you can go after and not something you can write down and say, this is how I want to play. I would sit and meditate and say, Sita maa, you act through me. Whatever comes through me is what you want for the film.”

Ranbir Kapoor apologises for his conjunctivitis and pays ode to Arun Govil

Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Lord Rama, showed up despite dealing with a severe case of conjunctivitis, wearing tinted glasses to protect his eyes through the evening. The actor took a moment on the mic to apologise to guests for his appearance, joking that he didn’t want his eye infection to pull focus from the footage they were about to see.Kapoor joked, “Ye kala chashma pehenne ke liye main aap sab se kshama chahta hoon. Kya hai ki meri aankhon mein infection ho gaya hai. Aaj is shubh avsar par aap sab ke liye sirf affection hai, isliye please don’t mind.” (I apologize to everyone for wearing these black sunglasses. The reason is that I have an eye infection. On this auspicious occasion, I have only affection for all of you, so please don’t mind.)Kapoor also spoke about the honour and responsibility of portraying Lord Rama, describing the film as one of the most significant projects of his career.Speaking about taking on the monumental role of Lord Rama, he reflected that it truly felt as though the character had chosen him rather than the other way around. Turning directly toward veteran actor Arun Govil, who famously played Lord Rama in Ramanand Sagar’s iconic 1987 television series, he deeply honored how Govil has embodied the face of the deity for generations.Kapoor expressed his immense respect, saying, “You have fulfilled this responsibility with such beauty, sincerity and dignity for so many years. Anyone who has watched Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan has been deeply inspired by you. If I can portray Shri Ram even a little as you did, I would feel that my hard work has paid off. Bachpan se sir Bhagwan Shri Ram ka aashirwad, unki seekh aur aapka chehra apne dil mein rakh kar bada hua hoon (Since childhood, we have asked for Lord Rama’s blessings, his learnings and kept your face in our heart). We love you like you are our own, and thank you for everything!”The most heartwarming highlight of the evening occurred when Ranbir Kapoor walked up onto the stage and warmly greeted poet Kumar Vishwas and actor Sunny Deol, dropping down to touch their feet as a traditional mark of respect. His humble gesture was received with immense affection by the two veterans and instantly struck a chord online, with fans heavily praising the Bollywood star’s deeply respectful and grounded nature.
