Rakesh Bedi visited Javed Akhtar's house for free food, alcohol during FTII days: 'He would come with Farooq Shaikh, Neena Gupta'

Rakesh Bedi is currently enjoying a renewed wave of popularity, thanks to his performance in ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, directed by Aditya Dhar. Amid this success, he recently visited memories from their early days in the industry as Farah Khan visited him along with her chef Dilip and dropped a video on her Youtube channel. As Farah stepped into Rakesh’s home, she warmly introduced him to her viewers as “Dhurandhar ka main hero (the main hero of Dhurandhar)”. She went on to share that although they have known each other for years, this was a reunion after a long time. Recalling her teenage years, Farah said she was around 15 when Rakesh, then about 25, was studying at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).

She fondly remembered those days, saying, “FTII se yeh log roz aate the Javed uncle aur Honey aunty ke ghar free ka khaana aur free ki daaru peene, aate the wahan par toh we used to meet all of them (They used to come every day from FTII to Javed uncle and Honey aunty’s house for free food and free drinks, and that’s where we would meet all of them).”Farah added that Rakesh would often arrive with a close-knit group of friends that included Farooq Shaikh, Satish Shah, Neena Gupta, and Supriya Pathak. “He used to come with Farooq Shaikh, Satish Shah, Neena Gupta and Supriya Pathak. Humari puraani dosti hai (We are old friends) but we are meeting after a very long time,” she said, with Rakesh adding that this routine continued for several years.Following the passing of Satish Shah in 2025, Rakesh had shared a heartfelt tribute on social media, writing, “How much I miss you, my friend. You are etched in me,” alongside a picture of the late actor.At present, Rakesh is riding high on the success of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, where his portrayal of Pakistani politician Jameel Jamali has struck a chord with audiences. Several of his dialogues from the film have gone viral, contributing to its massive box office success. The film has grossed over Rs 1,750 crore worldwide and Rs 1000 crore net in India.
