Rakesh Bedi reacts to Rs 1 crore bonus buzz after Dhurandhar success: 'Uska fayda mujhe bhi toh hona chahiye na'

Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi has become one of the most talked-about names after the blockbuster success of Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge, thanks to his fan-favourite character Jameel Jamali and the viral dialogue, “Bachcha hai tu mera.” Amid reports claiming that the actor received a Rs 1 crore bonus from the makers following the film’s success, Bedi has now reacted to the ongoing buzz with his trademark humour.According to earlier reports, the makers of the Dhurandhar franchise were allegedly so impressed with Bedi’s performance that they rewarded him with an additional Rs 1 crore over and above his original fee. However, speaking to Mashable India, the actor humorously reacted to the rumours, saying he should also benefit from the viral creatives based on his popular dialogue.

Rakesh Bedi’s witty take on the Rs 1 crore rumours

During the interview, the host jokingly referred to the viral rumours and said, “Jo random afwah udi hui hai Rs 1 crore wali, usko sach karne ka mere paas tareeka hai.”The host further added, “100 brands ne mera naam use karke ‘Bachcha tu mera’ wale creatives banaye hain. Agar har brand Rs 1 lakh bhej de, toh Rs 1 crore ho jayega.”Reacting to the joke, Rakesh Bedi laughed and responded, “Sab mera naam use kar rahe hain, meme bana rahe hain, cartoon bana rahe hain… uska fayda mujhe bhi toh hona chahiye na.”The actor’s humorous response comes days after he had also reportedly dismissed the Rs 1 crore bonus claims, saying no such amount had reached his account yet.

During the same interaction, Bedi also reflected on the phenomenal success of the franchise and the response it has received from audiences worldwide. When asked about Ranveer Singh starrer Dhurandhar reportedly breaking records within weeks of release, the actor modestly replied, “Maine koi record nahi toda yaar, records apne aap toot gaye.”Comparing today’s box office culture with the era of Sholay, Bedi noted how audience habits and theatrical reach have evolved over the decades.“If a film runs for 42 days today, it’s considered a massive hit. But Sholay ran for five years. People watched it 10-15 times. At that time, there were only around 500-600 theatres in India. Today, there are thousands of screens,” he said.
