Rakesh and Farah critique rising entourage demands in B’wood

Rakesh Roshan and Farah Khan recall simpler times, critique rising entourage demands: 'From 40 people to 200, it's like a mela now'

Rakesh Roshan and Farah Khan reminisced about the simpler times of filmmaking, contrasting the past with today’s extravagant entourage costs. They highlighted the shift from smaller crews and shared meals to actors demanding multiple vanity vans and private chefs. Rakesh Roshan also shared his surprise at celebrity demands, while Farah Khan emphasized her preference for basic necessities on set.

Rakesh Roshan recently reunited with choreographer Farah Khan. In a new vlog, the duo reminisced about their iconic collaboration while addressing how the industry has changed, particularly the sharp rise in entourage costs.

Smaller crew VS massive teams

Farah reflected on the making of Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, noting how film shoots back then were managed with compact teams of around 30 to 40 people. She contrasted it with the present, where productions often involve hundreds of crew members, and actors alone are accompanied by large entourages that can include 20 or more people.

Farah Khan cheekily thanks Tom Cruise: ‘Thank you for removing your shirt for us!’

Nine vanity vans for an interview

Roshan shared how Simi Garewal once told him about a celebrity couple who demanded as many as nine vanity vans for an interview on her show Rendezvous. The revelation left him stunned and even wondering if his son Hrithik had similar expectations. Farah Khan added her perspective, saying that unlike the trend of multiple vanity vans, she avoids such demands altogether and only asks for a clean washroom while working on set.

From shared meals to private chefs

The ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’ director also recalled that in earlier days, cast and crew would share meals together on set. Farah Khan contrasted it with the present, pointing out how many actors now have personal chefs and private vans, sometimes serving extravagant meals costing as much as Rs 40,000. Yet, despite these lavish arrangements, she joked that they often end up asking for a share of the simple home-cooked food she brings along. She also acknowledged how challenging it has become for producers to manage such demands.Meanwhile, on the work front, Farah Khan last directed Happy New Year starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. Rakesh Roshan, on the other hand, has revealed that he won’t be directing any further. He has handed over the mantle to his son Hrithik Roshan to continue with the Krrish franchise. Go to Source
