Rajpal Yadav and his wife Radha recently opened up about one of the most difficult phases of their lives, when the actor was embroiled in a legal case and briefly lodged in jail. During a recent interaction, the couple spoke candidly about navigating the crisis, managing family responsibilities, and staying strong through it all.Rajpal Yadav was sent to Tihar Jail in February 2026 to serve a six-month sentence stemming from a Rs 9-crore cheque bounce case related to his 2010 directorial debut, Ata Pata Laapata. He was granted interim bail on February 17, 2026, after paying part of the debt, with legal battles continuing as of March 2026.

‘I was just trying to keep everyone together’

Recalling the challenging time, Radha shared how overwhelming the situation was, especially with social media scrutiny and personal responsibilities colliding at once.“It was a lot to take in. With social media and him being inside jail, there was so much happening at that time. We also had a wedding in the family around the same time, and there are young children at home. I was just trying to juggle everything, manage things, and keep everyone together,” she told Curly Tales. She added that her immediate priority was to ensure stability at home while hoping for Rajpal’s release. “First and foremost, it was very important for him to come out. The wedding date was so close that it wasn’t possible to shift anything.”Talking about her children, she said, “My elder daughter was aware of everything through social media, so we explained things to her. But the younger one is just seven, so it was difficult for her to understand what was happening. My main focus was to keep everyone positive and remind them that whatever has happened, there is always a way out.”

‘It hurt me for my family, not for myself’

Rajpal Yadav, on his part, admitted that the emotional toll of the episode affected him deeply—particularly because of its impact on his loved ones.“Radha had absolutely nothing to do with any of these issues. All the meetings and everything related to the case were handled by me,” he said, adding, “But what happens is, no matter what, mentally and physically, the trauma affects the entire family. That is what hurt me the most—not for myself, but for my wife and my family.”He went on to praise Radha for her strength during the crisis. “Radha managed everything—whether it was the family, travelling between Mumbai and the village, or handling our mixed family background—was incredible. I’m not saying this just as a husband, but as a woman, I respect her a hundred times more now. I don’t think I can ever repay what she has done.”

Marriage, education and building a life together

The couple also spoke about their early marriage and how Radha continued her education after tying the knot. “I got married very young—at 18. I told him that I want to complete my degree. I wanted to study interiors,” Radha shared, adding that they spent two years focusing on her studies, including time in London and at the American InterContinental University in Dubai.

‘He is the glue that holds the family together’

Despite the hardships, Radha described Rajpal as the pillar of their family, someone who ensures unity no matter the situation.“He is very strong… in the entire family, I think he is the glue that has held everybody together,” she said.“He made a promise to his mother years ago that he will keep everyone together, and he stands by it. Even if he has to bend a little or convince others, he makes sure everything becomes normal.”She also added that Rajpal’s daughter from his first marriage is settled in Lucknow and has two children.
