Rajpal Case LIVE Updates: Delhi HC to hear his bail plea

The bail hearing for actor Rajpal Yadav in his long-running cheque bounce case is scheduled for today, February 12, 2026, as he remains lodged in Tihar Jail. His legal team has already filed the application, and relatives and supporters are hopeful about his temporary release on bail pending further proceedings.

Rajpal Yadav, a well-known Bollywood character actor and comedian, has been embroiled in this legal battle for several years. The case stems from multiple check dishonor cases linked to outstanding dues of around Rs 9 crore involving loans and payments he failed to honor. The matter ultimately reached the Delhi High Court, which recently rejected his plea for more time to settle the dues, prompting the court to order that he surrender to jail authorities.

The issue dates back to a business transaction where Yadav allegedly received funds—reportedly around Rs 5 crore originally—to finance film production but was unable to repay the amounts agreed upon with the complainant company. Several checks issued towards repayment later bounced, leading to legal action under the Negotiable Instruments Act. Over the years, there were attempts to mediate and settle the matter and even a conditional suspension of his sentence in 2024, but repeated failure to make satisfactory payments led the court to enforce the sentence.

Yadav complied with the court’s directive earlier this month by surrendering himself at Tihar Jail on February 5 after his final appeal was dismissed. In emotional public statements around the time of surrender, he acknowledged severe financial strain and difficulty arranging funds to honor the dues.

During this difficult period, many in the film fraternity have stepped forward to support him. Leading Bollywood personalities like Sonu Sood, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Varun Dhawan have publicly or privately offered help, with industry contacts reportedly actively engaging to assist with financial support and work opportunities.

In addition to actors, music producer Rao Inderjeet Singh pledged a significant Rs 1.11 crore to aid Yadav, while others such as singer Mika Singh and television actor Gurmeet Choudhary also offered monetary or professional support. Even political figures like Tej Pratap Yadav have reportedly contributed funds to help ease his burden.

Yadav’s wife, Radha Yadav, publicly expressed gratitude toward those who have stood by him, highlighting solidarity from peers in showbiz during this crisis.

As the bail hearing unfolds today, the industry and his family await a decision that could grant him temporary freedom and a chance to continue working toward resolving his legal and financial challenges.
