Rajinikanth’s Coolie crosses Rs 200 crore mark on Day 5

Coolie Box Office Collection Day 5: Rajinikanth starrer crosses Rs 200 crore mark; sees dip in collections on first Monday

Rajinikanth’s latest release ‘Coolie’ has officially entered the Rs 200 crore club within just five days of release. The mass entertainer, which opened to a thunderous response on August 14, saw its first major dip on Monday but still managed to post impressive numbers.

Strong start and extended weekend run

Coolie began its box office journey with a massive Rs 65 crore debut, riding on Rajinikanth’s star power and Independence Day fervour. The film’s collections peaked on the national holiday with Rs 54.75 crore net. However, Saturday and Sunday saw a gradual slowdown, with the film collecting Rs 39.5 crore and Rs 35.25 crore respectively. By the end of its first extended weekend, the film had already amassed an estimated Rs 194.50 crore net in India.

Day 5 – Monday drop

On its first Monday, ‘Coolie’ earned around Rs 12 crore net across all languages (early estimates). Despite the decline, strong footfalls during the night shows especially in Tamil Nadu helped the film push its overall India net total to an estimated Rs 206.50 crore.

Regional breakdown

The film’s dominance is spread across markets, with the Tamil version leading the way at Rs 128.05 crore, followed by the Telugu dubbed version contributing Rs 45.1 crore, and the Hindi version adding Rs 19.75 crore. This strong performance across languages has firmly established ‘Coolie’ as one of the most successful pan-India releases of the year.

Rajinikanth’s box office streak

With this film, Rajinikanth has now delivered his fourth consecutive Rs 100 crore grosser. The film also joins his elite Rs 200 crore club alongside Vettaiyan, which crossed Rs 250 crore in 2024. Meanwhile Jailer and 2.0 remain his highest-grossing films to date, each surpassing the Rs 600 crore mark.Though Coolie has shown a Monday dip, industry trackers believe it will continue to dominate the box office over the coming week, especially in the South, and could emerge as one of the highest earners of 2025.
