'Jailer 2': Rajinikanth announces the sequel's release date; wraps up Kerala schedule

Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer 2’ is one of the most anticipated upcoming films. The 2023 release ‘Jailer’, although it received mixed reviews, further cemented Rajinikanth’s filmography by grossing around Rs 600 crore worldwide. After this success, fans and film critics are eagerly awaiting the second part.

A grand action sequence filmed in Kerala

The shooting for ‘Jailer 2’ is currently underway at various locations. Rajinikanth was particularly present at the shooting near Palakkad, Kerala. He was welcomed by the fans with warmth and love. Rajinikanth, standing in the vehicle, waved and applauded the fans through the car’s sunroof. The fight scenes and grand set designs also attracted a lot of attention from the fans in the area. The climax portion of ‘Jailer 2’ was reportedly filmed during the latest Kerala schedule.

Rajinikanth confirms ‘Jailer 2’ release date, returning to Chennai

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth returned to Chennai after wrapping up the Kerala shoot. Speaking with the media at the airport, Rajinikanth delighted his fans by announcing the release date of ‘Jailer 2’, saying that the film will hit the theatres on June 12, 2026.

‘Jailer 2’ promises new stars and thrilling action sequences

Directed by Nelson and starring Rajinikanth, ‘Jailer’ created various box office records upon its release in 2023. ‘Jailer’ was the second biggest success of Rajinikanth’s career, after ‘2.0’. His stellar performance as a retired police officer in the film created a huge sensation among the fans. The film’s plot, screenplay, and the acting ensemble that emerged in the theater are still being talked about. With the return of major stars from ‘Jailer’, the sequel reportedly brings in new faces as well, including SJ Suryah, Nandamuri Balakrishna, and others.
