The estrangement between Prince Harry and Prince William continues to cast a shadow over the royal family, placing those closest to both men in an uncomfortable position. Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, who served as Private Secretary to both brothers for eight years before leaving his role in 2013, recently fielded questions about the brothers’ fractured relationship during a public interview.Speaking to The Times, Lowther-Pinkerton was directly asked about the apparent rift between the two men he once worked with closely. His answer uncovered a sensitivity around the issue and the challenge of engaging in an open discussion about it.

Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton’s careful response to questions about the brothers

When Lowther-Pinkerton was asked about the estrangement, he clearly seemed reluctant to enter the contentious waters of the brothers’ feud. “Do you know what? I think I’d better steer clear of that Harry issue,” he told the publication. His measured response suggested an awareness of the emotional complexity underlying the situation. However, Lowther-Pinkerton did offer a brief statement expressing his enduring regard for Harry. “What I would say is that I was and am very fond of him. He has huge redeeming features, and I’m a perennial optimist,” he added, indicating that despite the public conflict, his personal feelings toward the Duke of Sussex remained warm and unchanged.

Prince Harry and Prince William are unlikely to reunite during the UK visit

Plans are underway for Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to travel to England in July. The trip is primarily focused on attending events marking the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. However, all indications suggest that a meeting between the estranged brothers is highly unlikely to occur during this visit.

Royal expert Emily Nash weighed in on the situation, emphasising that the fundamental issue between the brothers remains unresolved. Speaking to Page Six, Nash articulated what she views as the central problem preventing broader family reconciliation. “I think, fundamentally, you have two brothers here who were not speaking to one another. That is the key relationship that needs to be resolved, really, before anything else can happen,” she said.

According to royal commentator Amanda Matta, Prince William has taken an especially hardened stance regarding his younger brother. “William has been the holdout for years, viewing Harry’s betrayal as unforgivable,” Matta told Page Six. She further noted that William’s current focus on projecting strength and leadership as heir to the throne may be contributing to his resistance to reconciliation. “William is also seeking to project strength and leadership these days, which often results in press briefings that he has opposed the king’s handling of emotionally charged issues,” she explained.

Will Prince Harry and Prince William ever make amends?

Sources close to Harry claim the Duke hasn’t given up his hope of being able to reunite with his family in the future, although the brothers do not appear to be close. Both Harry and his fans have a long-term perspective on the situation, according to an inside source speaking with People magazine.”They’re not approaching it with the expectation of a quick resolution. It’s about taking small, manageable steps and seeing where things land,” the source said. The insider further emphasised Harry’s continued commitment to improving family relations. “This remains very important to Harry, with Meghan supportive,” they added.Reconciliation seems a long way off, but people who know Harry well have not given up on the hope that one day it might be possible to reconcile between the brothers.
