Pranav Mohanlal’s Diés Iraé crosses Rs 10 crore mark in just 2 days

Malayalam cinema continues its impressive run with Pranav Mohanlal’s horror thriller Diés Iraé, the latest in Rahul Sadasivan’s cinematic universe. The film has opened strongly at the box office, exceeding expectations. Adding to the excitement, Pranav is set to portray a younger Mohanlal in the upcoming L2: Empuraan, exploring the origin of Stephen Nedumpally.

In the past 10 months, Malayalam cinema has offered the most varied kind of films and each has set higher expectations from the industry. On got to the ambitious L2: Empuraan with Mohanlal and Prithviraj to Mohanlal’s family drama Thudarum to Dulquer Salmaan and Kalyani Priyadarshan’s first female superhero film Lokah: Chapter 1- Chandra and now we are see Pranav Mohanlal’s horror thriller film Diés Iraé. Diés Iraé is directed by Rahul Sadasivan and is the third installment of his horror cinematic universe. While Malayalam superstar Mammootty played the negative lead in the 2nd instalment Bramayugam, it is Pranav Mohanlal who is playing the lead in the third installment.Pranav plays Rohan in the film and his life turns chaotic when he suspects the presence of an ex-love interest in his house; his investigations lead him to mysterious truth. As per Sacnilk the film opened to Rs 4.70 crore on day 1 and witnessed 22 % jump on Saturday to collect Rs 5.75 crore, taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 10.45 crore. And going by the trend the film is expected to reach Rs 17 crore mark by the end of the weekend. Even in North America the film is doing good business at the box office with film earning USD 84,000 from its premiere and day 1 collection and day 2 collection hitting almost USD 100,000. The film ended on a cliff hanger showcasing that Pranav would be returning to the universe for the fourth installment of the horror universe created by Rahul. In fact Pranav also has a huge film on his hands and that is the third installment of Lucifer series by Mohanlal and Prithviraj. In the post credit scene of L2: Empuraan, the makers revealed that Pranav would be playing the role of younger Mohanlal and how they would be showcasing the origin story of Khureshi-Ab’raam who is also known as Stephen Nedumpally .
