Director Sudha Kongara expressed admiration for Vijay and discussed the film’s challenging release, including censor board issues.

‘Parasakthi’ starring Sivakarthikeyan is slowly moving towards the Rs 50 crore mark. The film is not racing ahead, but it is not stopping either. In the first 10 days the film earned around Rs 49.50 crore India net. This already brought it very close to the Rs 50 crore club. On day 11 the film added a small amount to its total. ‘Parasakthi’ earned around Rs 26 lakh India net on its eleventh day as reported by the Sacnilk website. The total collection has reached Rs 49.76 crore. The film is now just a step away from crossing Rs 50 crore.

Daily numbers clearly show the fall

The second week has been tough for ‘Parasakthi’. The daily collections have gone down a lot. On day 9 the film earned Rs 2.65 crore. On day 10 the numbers fell sharply. The film collected only Rs 75 lakhs that day. By day 11 the drop was even more visible. On the second Tuesday ‘Parasakthi’ earned just Rs 26 lakhs as per early estimates.

Low crowd in theatres on day 11

‘Parasakthi’ had an overall Tamil occupancy of 11.77 percent on January 20. This means theatres were mostly empty, but some people were still coming.Morning shows had 11.32 percent occupancy. Afternoon shows did slightly better at 12.86 percent. Evening shows stood at 11.55 percent. Night shows were at 11.36 percent. The occupancy numbers stayed almost the same throughout the day. There was no big jump in any show. This clearly shows that the film is now in a very calm phase.

Sudha Kongara speaks about clash with ‘Jana Nayagan’

Parasakthi is directed by Sudha Kongara. Recently, she spoke openly about her feelings for Vijay. She made it very clear that she has only love and respect for him. She told India Today, “I love Vijay. I am probably his biggest fan and there is no doubt about it. Even Vijay knows it. I have met him and told him the same.”She also said that there was never any competition in her mind. Sudha shared, “I had always wanted to make a film with him but it didn’t materialise due to various reasons. I usually watch my own films at least 2,000 times but Vijay is the only actor whose films I watch on the very first show of the first day. I have been eagerly waiting for the release of Jana Nayagan.”Talking about the release timing, she said, “Our film and Vijay’s film were scheduled to release around the same time and we only wanted a Pongal release for our movie.”Sudha also spoke about a big problem before release and said, “The Censor Board refused to issue a certificate just two days before the planned release. This is something no film should have to face.”DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers and data in this article are compiled from diverse public and industry sources.
