Param Sundari collects Rs 9 crore on day 2, beats MHKB

Param Sundari box office collection day 2: Sidharth Malhotra-Janhvi Kapoor starrer earns Rs 9 cr, beats Mere Husband Ki Biwi

Param Sundari, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, has earned well in its first two days. The film’s domestic earnings reached Rs 16.25 crore. It surpassed Mere Husband Ki Biwi’s lifetime earnings. However, it trails Chennai Express in day two collections. Critics cited a weak screenplay, but audiences enjoyed the lead pair’s chemistry and music.

Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s much-awaited romantic comedy Param Sundari is off to a promising start at the box office. Despite mixed reviews, the film has shown steady growth over its first two days, with audience appreciation for the lead pair’s chemistry driving its momentum.

Two-day earnings cross Rs 16 crore

According to Sacnilk, the film opened with Rs 7.25 crore on day one, marking Sidharth Malhotra’s fifth-biggest debut. On day two, it added Rs 9 crore, taking its total domestic earnings to Rs 16.25 crore.

Beats Mere Husband Ki Biwi, trails Chennai Express

This takes Param Sundari past the lifetime earnings of Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Rakul Preet Singh’s romantic comedy Mere Husband Ki Biwi (Rs 12.85 crore). However, despite comparisons with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s Chennai Express, the film’s day two figure of Rs 9.22 crore is far from the latter’s Rs 28.05 crore.

Cast and reception

Directed by Tushar Jalota and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, Param Sundari is a romantic comedy headlined by Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, with Sanjay Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Innayat Verma, and Renji Panicker in pivotal roles. Though the film drew criticism for its weak screenplay and flat storyline, audiences praised Sidharth–Janhvi’s chemistry and its soundtrack.

Review

“The real highlight is the charming chemistry between Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, who make the opposites-attract arc believable and enjoyable. The actors light up the screen with their presence, especially Janhvi who looks gorgeous in the traditional Malayali avatar. Sanjay Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Renji Panicker, and Siddhartha Shankar lend able support. Even if it largely remains in the known territory, fans of breezy romances will find it a pleasant watch,” reads an excerpt from our review of the movie.DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers in this article are compiled from our proprietary sources and diverse public data.
