Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was among the many members of the film industry, who made it a point to attend the funeral ceremony of veteran actor Pankaj Dheer on Wednesday. Joined by his security team, the actor was seen among several film and television stars, gathering to bid a final farewell to Dheer. Rocking his ‘Battle of Galwan’ look, the actor was seen dressed in a simple olive-green shirt and jeans.
Salman gets emotional
Salman who shared screen space wth Dheer in films such as ‘Sanam Bewafa’ and ‘Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge’, was reportedly seen offering his condolences to the grieving family. The funeral and final rites ceremony took place at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle. Videos from the crematorium saw Salman getting rather emotional. The actor was seen standing quietly with a couple of industry friends, and at one point, he even appeared to wipe his eyes.
Pankaj Dheer passes away after battle with cancer
According to various media reports, Pankaj Dheer passed away at the age of 68 after a quiet battle with cancer. The veteran actor, best known for portraying Karna in the iconic TV series ‘Mahabharat’, had an illustrious career that spanned across film and television.
‘Mahabharat’ co-stars mourn his loss
His Mahabharat co-star Arjun Feroz Khan, who played Arjuna, paid tribute on Instagram, writing, “Gentleman!!! Bids goodbye, will miss you PD. Stay blessed.” He also added a throwback picture.The Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) also issued an official statement mourning his loss. “CINTAA and CAWT mourn the loss of Shri Pankaj Dheer ji, former General Secretary of CINTAA and former Chairman of CAWT — a respected member of our fraternity whose invaluable contributions to Indian cinema and television will always be remembered,” the note read. “Funeral today at 4:30 PM at Pawan Hans Crematorium, Vile Parle (W). Om Shanti.”Dheer is survived by his wife and son, actor Nikitin Dheer, known for his roles in films like ‘Chennai Express’ and ‘Shershaah’.
