Padmini Kolhapure paid a deeply personal tribute to Asha Bhosle after the legendary singer died in Mumbai at 92 on April 12. Looking back at their work together in the 2013 film ‘Mai’, Padmini recalled how special it was to share screen space with Bhosle, who made her acting debut with the Mahesh Kodiyal-directed family drama at 79. In her post, the actress described the experience as one she would always hold close, while also revisiting the emotional bond they shared during the film’s making.

According to News18, Padmini shared a glimpse of her time with Asha Bhosle on Instagram and wrote, “Playing the sensitive role of Mai, my Mother in the Movie ‘Mai’ the only film you ever did on the silver screen is a blessing I’ll cherish forever. How many more blessings could I have asked for, to share such a deep, beautiful connection with you… Asha Atya Forever in my heart.” The report noted that Bhosle played Padmini’s mother in ‘Mai’, marking her acting debut on the big screen.

Padminini Kolhapure paid her final respects to legendary singer Asha Bhosle at the late icon’s Mumbai residence. The actress was seen arriving to offer condolences and stand with the grieving family during the difficult moment.

‘Mai’ film details and Asha Bhosle legacy

‘Mai’ tells the story of how children abandon their aging parents. The film centers on Madhu, who takes responsibility for her widowed mother as she lives with Alzheimer’s disease. The cast also includes Ram Kapoor, Shivani Joshi, Kshitee Jog, and Anupam Kher. Reports have also said that Bhosle dedicated the film to her own mother, who was lovingly called “Mai.”Asha Bhosle died in Mumbai and was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday before her death. Her last rites were scheduled to take place at Shivaji Park on Monday at 4:00 p.m. She remained one of the most influential playback singers in Indian cinema. Bhosle sang her first song for the 1943 Marathi drama ‘Majha Bal’ and went on to deliver songs that shaped generations of film music. Her best-known tracks include ‘Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko’, ‘Do Lafzon Ki Hai Dil Ki Kahani’, ‘Kya Ghazab Karte Ho Ji’, ‘O Haseena Zulfonwale Jane Jahan’, and ‘Ye Ladka Hay Allah Kaisa Hai Diwana’.
