‘One Piece’ has captured hearts worldwide since its debut, and Season 2 brings even more excitement with its dive into the Grand Line adventures. Fans in India have a special reason to cheer as the season introduces British-Indian actress Charithra Chandran in a key role, adding a unique cultural link to this global phenomenon.

Charithra Chandran as Nefertari Vivi

Charithra Chandran steps into the shoes of Nefertari Vivi, also known as Miss Wednesday, a princess undercover in the Baroque Works organization. Best known for her breakout role as Edwina Sharma in ‘Bridgerton Season 2,’ the 27-year-old actress brings warmth and strength to Vivi’s complex character. Born in Scotland to Tamil parents who are doctors, Chandran spent her early childhood in Tamil Nadu, India, with her grandparents. She calls India home, proudly stating it is a privilege to connect with such a rich culture. This casting feels personal for Indian fans. Chandran’s heritage mirrors Vivi’s journey of balancing duty and identity, making her a fitting choice for the Alabasta Saga.

Another desi star joins the crew

Sendhil Ramamurthy, an Indian-American actor, portrays Nefertari Cobra, Vivi’s father, and the King of Alabasta. Famous for Dr. Mohinder Suresh in Heroes and a role in Never Have I Ever, Ramamurthy shared his thrill on social media. He wrote that he had kept the secret so long it felt like a dream. Raised by South Indian parents from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, both physicians, Ramamurthy adds authentic depth to the royal family dynamic. These additions highlight growing South Asian representation in Hollywood blockbusters.
