Olivia Wilde is facing intense online scrutiny after a promotional video for her new film ‘The Invite’ sparked a wave of comments about her appearance. The clip, in which she spoke about San Francisco as the film’s setting, quickly went viral. A repost on X drew sharp reactions, with one user writing, “Olivia Wilde looks like a medical cadaver came to life,” a remark that alone gathered over one million views and thousands of likes.

Social media reaction to Olivia Wilde’s appearance

The comments section filled with speculation about her health. Some users questioned if the visuals were altered, while others criticized her makeup and appearance. “Ain’t no way; that has to be fake,” one user said. Another wrote, “Why would you emphasize your eyes like that? They’re already about to pop out of her head.” A separate comment claimed, “You can see she’s losing her hair. It’s from malnutrition.” Others expressed concern, with one saying, “I think her life has been a little tumultuous in the past few years…hope she’s okay.”The discussion widened to include other actresses. Some users compared current trends to past beauty standards, asking why Hollywood stars were “running around looking like Kate Moss did in the 90’s.” Similar reactions have recently targeted actors like Emma Stone, Margot Robbie, Jenna Ortega, and Demi Moore.Fans also pushed back. Some argued that the video’s look could be due to camera distortion or natural aging. “People just age. I know this may be news to you but, it is a thing,” one fan wrote. Another added, “How can you NOT tell that this is caused by the camera lens? It’s fish-eyed as f**k.”

‘The Invite’ film details and festival buzz

Wilde has previously addressed public scrutiny. In a 2015 interview with HuffPost, she said, “The photos of me in this magazine have been generously constructed to show my best angles and I assure you, good lighting has been warmly embraced.” She added, “The truth is, I’m a mother, and I look like one.”She has also questioned the public’s sense of entitlement. “If you are making something that you’re selling to the public, you somehow have accepted that your life will be torn to shreds by a pack of wolves. No, that’s actually not part of the job description. Never was.” She further addressed ageism in an interview with Elle, asking, “Do you plan on not getting older?”Directed by Wilde, ‘The Invite’ is an English-language remake of ‘The People Upstairs’. It stars Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz, and Edward Norton. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and screened at the San Francisco International Film Festival on April 24. Critics have praised it, with Variety calling it “marvelously entertaining” and The Guardian rating it 4 out of 5 stars as a “genuinely funny and uncommonly intelligent comedy for adults.”Wilde plays Angela, a mother renovating her San Francisco apartment, while Rogen plays her husband Joe. The story follows a tense dinner with neighbors Hawk and Pina. Wilde described San Francisco as “the most beautiful place on the planet” and said the characters felt rooted in the city. The film releases in the United States on June 26. Go to Source
