Not the 1st woman to do it, won’t be the last: Sonakshi on interfaith wedding

Sonakshi Sinha on interfaith wedding with Zaheer Iqbal; from being trolled to getting love: ‘I'm not the first woman to do it' - EXCLUSIVE

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal tied the knot in June 2024 at their Bandra home. They got married under the Special Marriage Act, 1954, in the presence of their family and close friends. As they had an interfaith wedding, there was a lot of noise that time. However, a year and a half later, Sonakshi and Zaheer have become one of the most loved B-town couples on the internet. During a chat with ETimes, when asked about it, Sonakshi said, “I’ve always believed that love always wins, no matter what. No matter how much hate people can throw at you, but if there’s… where there’s love, there is love, and it will always win, I’ve always believed that. And it’s not like we tried doing something, we would just… I literally… people were like, oh, you’re so brave that you followed your heart and got married to him. No, I just got married to the man I love. And literally, I’m not the first woman to do it, and I won’t be the last, certainly. And, you know, so I think it wasn’t something that we tried to do consciously. Or, you know, anything. It just happened, and the switch happened immediately after we got married. I think people could just see so much love, so much authenticity, so much. You know, merit in everything, that all the noise just kind of faded away on its own.”

Zaheer Iqbal Praises Wife Sonakshi Sinha’s Fierce Avatar In ‘Jatadhara’ Trailer

Recently, Sonakshi and Zaheer hilariously slammed pregnancy rumours as he cradled her stomach while posing for the paps during a Diwali bash. This video won the internet and netizens loved their chemistry and banter as a pair. “When there’s happiness, I don’t think that also does kind of bounce back to people as well. So, it’s only great.” The actress also opened up the scrutiny around her as she’s put on weight after her wedding. She laughed, “People are just making a fuss but I’ve gotten married one and a half year back, I’m really enjoying myself. It’s a proven study that women put on… couples put on weight in the first year of their marriage and that’s when you know it’s a happy one.”On work front, Sonakshi will be seen next in ‘Jatadhara’, set to release on November 7.See More:‘Tu sahi ghar pe aayi hai…’: Sonakshi Sinha reveals her mother-in-law doesn’t know how to cook, says Zaheer Iqbal’s parents are ‘chill’
