Nicole Kidman-Keith Urban face another custody battle

Still not over: Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban to face another custody battle ahead

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have called it quits after almost 19 years together, but things aren’t exactly peaceful just yet. Their split drew tons of media attention, and now, there’s a new snag: who gets to keep their pets? Even though the divorce papers are signed, the fight over their animals has taken center stage.

What’s happening?

For the unversed, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s pets aren’t just a handful of dogs and cats. On their Nashville property, Kidman and Urban have built up a whole collection: dogs, cats, chickens, alpacas, and even fish. They’ve always been big on animals, and both care about them deeply. As of now, per Mandatory, Kidman’s looking after all of them.Report suggests that Urban just doesn’t have a place that works for the animals yet. It’s complicated, emotional, and not going as smoothly as they’d hoped. Neither of them has figured out a long-term plan, and it’s left feelings pretty raw on both sides. For outsiders, this pet drama might sound small, but for Kidman and Urban, the animals mean a lot. That’s why it’s become such a sticking point.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban: Looking back at their relationship

Looking back, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban seemed rock solid for years. Nicole Kidman, the bona fide Hollywood A-lister, Oscar winner, and Keith Urban, the country music superstar, first met in 2005. The couple married in June 2006 and spent almost two decades showing up together at events, working on projects, and raising their family on a farm outside Nashville. They have two daughters, Sunday Rose (17) and Faith Margaret (15). Life on the farm, surrounded by animals, was a huge part of their family identity. For a long time, Kidman managed her acting career and family life, keeping things steady at home, while Urban was often on the road, playing shows and putting out new music. However, after nearly two decades, in September 2025, Kidman filed for divorce, saying there was no fixing what had gone wrong. After a stretch of keeping things quiet and trying to work it out, they moved quickly to settle everything.By January 2026, their divorce was finalized. They agreed to split their assets without any drama and decided to handle their own legal fees. Kidman became the primary parent, with the girls living with her most of the year (306 days, to be exact) while Urban has them for 59 days, usually on alternate weekends.

What’s ahead?

As of now, Kidman is throwing herself into work and spending time with her daughters. Her new film projects are on the horizon. Meanwhile, Urban is back to making music and figuring out life after marriage. The dust is starting to settle, but until they sort out who gets the pets, there’s still one more hurdle to clear.Disclaimer: The information provided here is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute legal, financial, medical, or professional advice.
